Pottsville, PA, July 2007 - D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc., America’s Oldest Brewery, is proud to introduce the newly redesigned packaging for one of its original specialty beers, Yuengling Dark Brewed Porter. Brewed with caramel and dark roasted malts, Yuengling Porter produces a rich and robust flavor. The bold new graphics for the 12 oz bottle, the 6 pack carrier and the mother carton represent Porter’s craft style brewing process and its distinct character. In addition, the mother carton has been upgraded to a pre-print carton to appeal to the most discerning customer. The new packaging is set to launch in Yuengling’s existing markets in August.
“Yuengling Dark Brewed Porter has been one of our original craft style brews since D.G. Yuengling opened its doors in 1829,” states David Casinelli, COO. “We felt it was necessary to promote the image of the brand by visually representing Porter’s sophistication and heritage. The new vibrant graphics, in addition to a pre-print mother carton, give our wholesalers and retailers the opportunity to showcase our Porter in the specialty beer section where it will capture the attention of today’s upscale consumer.” adds Casinelli.
The Porter packaging identity credits go to D’Addario Design Associates, New York City, (DDA, NYC). Adam J. D’Addario, Managing Partner explains “When Yuengling management came to DDA with this design challenge, we were thrilled.
After researching the history of the Yuengling Porter brand in Yuengling’s Brewery Museum and memorabilia, we located a 1930’s tin sign that sparked the new label identity. We extracted authentic period design elements and created a contemporary specialty beer label design.” Production credits include Gamse Litho for the label printing, MeadWestvaco for the basket production and Temple-Inland for the preprint litho mother cases.
