For
the many locals who have made countless phone calls to Pottsville,
PA, over the past few years, the wait is finally over. The
D.G. Yuengling Brewery, America's Oldest Brewery, has announced
plans to expand distribution into the state of North Carolina.
Coming
off another double-digit growth year, the company plans
to open the entire state gradually over the next six months.
Their first and only commitment so far has been the appointment
of Coastal Beverage Company. To direct and manage the opening,
Yuengling has promoted Thomas Junod as the state manager
for North Carolina. Tom's previous position was east coast
manager for the state of Florida. "This is going to
be a rewarding challenge and a great opportunity for our
brands," states Tom. "The appointment of Coastal
Beverage is a significant first step for us. They cover
thirty-nine counties in the eastern half of North Carolina
operating out of four branch locations. This provides us
the opportunity to make a dynamic introduction," he
adds.
Over
the past three years, Yuengling has drawn a lot of attention
with the purchase of the former Stroh plant in Tampa, Florida,
in addition to the completion of their new 1.5 million barrel
facility, a short distance from their Pottsville headquarters.
They now have capacity to consider select expansion markets,
and will do so in a slow and controlled manner.
"We're
proud to distribute products for Americas Oldest Brewery,"
boasts Clark Moore, Vice President of Coastal Beverage.
"Yuengling has a unique portfolio of fine beers that
will definitely have a presence here in North Carolina.
Consumers and Retailers have been asking how to get it for
quite some time, and we're excited to be involved in the
initial rollout," he adds.
