Yuengling
Returns to New York
The
D.G. Yuengling and Son brewery has announced its plans to
return to New York with the recent appointment of Oak Beverage
in Blauvelt. The brewery previously had distribution in
the state as well as the New England region however; they
began to withdraw their products beginning in 1993 to meet
the explosive demand in their home markets. Yuengling's
plans to return to the state was not scheduled at this time
and an abrupt change in their thinking came about as a result
of the circumstances involving Oak Beverage over the past
several months.
"New
York is a very competitive market and we felt it was in
the best interest of our brewery and other suppliers to
help keep a good wholesaler in business. We have a lot of
respect for the Boening family and their organization and
we didn't want to sit back and see all those families loose
their jobs," stated David A. Casinelli; Executive Vice President
of Yuengling. "We hope that our brands added to the high
quality brands they currently distribute will give them
the opportunity to be a strong competitor once again," he
adds.
When
asked of her feelings about the appointment, Debra Boening,
President of Oak Beverage replied, "Yuengling makes it fun
to sell beer again! We're proud of our association with
the Yuengling family and the fine line of distinctive beers
from America's Oldest Brewery." As for the remaining New
York markets, no decisions have been at this time.
