Summer of Suds Champion

Pottsville, PA, October 2008 – D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc., America’s Oldest Brewery, is pleased to announce that Yuengling has won SPiN’s Summer of Suds championship.

Yuengling competed in the first annual beer bracket battle conducted by CBS Sports online over the last five weeks and defeated some very popular, nationally-distributed brands to win the domestic beer bracket. More than 5,200 votes were cast in the championship round alone and the domestic favorite was the overwhelming winner, defeating the winning import beer. Yuengling beat Guinness 64%-36% to win the championship and is officially recognized as CBSsports.com’s favorite beer.

“This is truly an honor,” stated Lou Romano, Marketing Manager. “What started as a fun online contest has garnered real national attention for the brewery. Consumers have spoken and we’re proud to be recognized as their beer of choice. That’s a pretty remarkable feat for a brand that is only sold in 11 states along the East Coast.”
